Type of Run: 800m Empire State Game tryouts

Result: I was unhappy with the time at first. I think that is good with minimal speed training. Only 3 track workouts. Two of which were not quality ones. I also didn’t run for two days prior. Yesterday I did some cross training. I flew my hang glider but I landed early so my arms and back didn’t get sore.

Description of Race: There was no time schedule for the meet so I ended up warming up too early. I continued to keep my body moving so it didn’t tighten up. I think I lost my chance to negative split the second lap because I had to keep moving. It was also hot out. I had been outside for at least 3 hours before I raced. I stayed hydrated and had a banana.
I didn’t have enough to eat that day either.
I went out in the first lap almost as planned (about a second fast). Moreover, I came into the second lap strong. Then I fell apart as I tried to quicken the pace. I dogged the last 300 meters. The rest of the open men were pulling away from me with ease. I ended up in last place because the person behind me bailed out. I think 1st open man ran 1:59.
